BotShade has been updated to v2.3.1. This release is a minor update focused on polishing the design refresh shipped in v2.3 and fixing reported bugs.

If you notice anything, please don’t hesitate to report it via the Support page.

Table of contents:

Highlights

  • We extended the Editorial (ruled) design introduced in v2.3 to screens that were not yet covered — including the custom command builder, the AI chat, the settings panel, and the affiliate page.
  • We refreshed the AI chat with a simpler, quieter presentation. When the conversation is empty, the input field is centered and suggested prompts appear directly below it.
  • We unified the model selector and the reasoning level (effort) selector in the AI chat into a single dropdown, displayed with brand logos in a more compact form.
  • We fixed bugs in the custom command builder where function nodes stretched horizontally, focus was lost while editing arguments, and Backspace could unintentionally delete a node.
  • We polished the bot status panel at the top of the bot detail view, refining how KPI empty states are shown and aligning loading placeholders with the actual content.

Design extension: rolling out the ruled style

The Editorial (ruled) theme introduced in v2.3 was initially applied mainly to the top-level dashboard screens. In v2.3.1, we extend the ruled treatment to the screens that were still on the old style:

  • Dashboard, custom command builder, and AI chat: spacing, rules, and typography are now unified under the Editorial design language.
  • Settings panel: now recognizes the Editorial mode and switches its presentation to match the selected theme.
  • Affiliate screen (bot settings): adopts the ruled style so it visually aligns with the other settings screens.

As a result, whether you pick Plum or Editorial, you get a consistent look across the entire dashboard.

AI chat refresh

The BotShader AI chat — the in-dashboard assistant that helps you build your bot — has been refreshed for a quieter, easier-to-read presentation.

A simpler, quieter presentation

We removed much of the decoration around messages and switched to a plain-text-first presentation. The input field is also more subdued, with a shorter placeholder.

Cleaner empty state

When you start a new conversation or the history is empty, we now skip the previous welcome message. Instead, the input field is centered on the screen, with suggested prompts listed just below. It’s easier to get a conversation going when you’re not sure what to ask.

Model and reasoning level unified into one dropdown

The AI model and reasoning level (effort) selectors — previously separate — have been combined into a single dropdown. Each option shows a brand logo, and the dropdown is sized so it stays compact rather than running long vertically.

Consistent message action buttons

The action buttons on each message (copy and so on) are now standardized to 28px, balancing comfortable hit targets with a tidy appearance.

Fixed issues

Custom command builder: function nodes no longer stretch wide

We fixed a bug where the arguments of a function node were laid out horizontally and stretched the node wide. Arguments are now stacked vertically, so functions with many arguments no longer dominate the canvas.

Custom command builder: focus is preserved while editing arguments

We fixed a bug where, while editing a function’s arguments, focus would leave the input field and prevent you from continuing to edit. We also fully disabled node deletion via keyboard while typing, so a key press during editing can no longer remove the node by mistake.

Custom command builder: Backspace no longer deletes selected nodes by accident

We fixed a bug where pressing Backspace to delete text would also delete the selected node. Keyboard-driven node deletion is now accepted only via the Delete key, preventing the most common accidental deletion path during editing.

Other UI improvements

Bot detail: polished bot status panel

We tidied up the bot status section at the top of the bot detail view. The state pill, the start/stop/restart actions, the transient progress indicators, and the muted treatment for empty KPIs were all revisited for a simpler, more readable layout. Loading spinners are now consistent across the dashboard.

Custom command and event builder: tidier card lists

In the custom command and event builder card lists, we enlarged the thumbnails and removed the inner bezel so the content reads more clearly. Custom command cards now show their description, and event builder cards show an enlarged trigger summary.

Loading placeholders now match the real content

On the bot settings and custom command screens, the loading placeholders sometimes diverged from the real content in order or decoration. Each placeholder has been aligned exactly to its content, reducing layout shifts when loading completes.

Bot list: small overflow menu tweak

In the bot list (Overview), the three-dot overflow menu on each row has been resized so it sits more comfortably alongside the other icons.

Compatibility

Bots and flow definitions you have been using continue to work as-is on v2.3.1. Your design theme and AI chat preferences are carried over automatically, so no migration is required on your side.
